Sustainable BIPOC Resistance - Sunday Sessions continues: bit.ly/SustainableBIPOCResistancebit.ly/BIPOCSignupReasons#KrystalKavitaJagoo#IntersectionalEquityInsights#SustainableBIPOCResistance

Last Saturday, after being too physically unwell to commute to attend Friday's chiropractic adjustment, I made the difficult decision to cancel Sustainable BIPOC Resistance - Sunday Sessions for the 1st time (in a desperate attempt at feeling okay enough to commute to attend Monday's chiropractic adjustment to be able to start a new contract with less pain to manage!), which is exactly what I would advocate for other BIPOC disabled folx:

Under that, is a multi-coloured art work, which features 13 circles in the fruit of life formation. These circles contain the following text:
Sustainable BIPOC Resistance
Disability Justice
Forgiveness of Self
Abolition
Love
Hope
Mutual Aid
Rest
Art Creation
Spirituality
Working through Grief
Anger as a Valid Response to Racism
Futuristic Possibilities

Despite knowing I was honouring my access needs (exactly as I encourage participants to do in every session! 👀), I struggled with guilt over having to make that choice (given how I usually push through pain to keep my word! 🙈), but this flare-up of disability-related challenges (exactly the language I used when advocating for students registered with Accessibility Services at the University of Toronto from 2018 to 2021! 🤡) was completely unavoidable! 💔💔💔

Thankfully, since then, I have made it to see my chiropractor, but I was still in a bit of an existential crisis over posting that these PWYC Sustainable BIPOC Resistance - Sunday Sessions would run until the end of 2024, and only 5 weeks in, I had failed to do that! In what feels like divine timing, a past participant and fellow brown disabled woman reached out almost 2 months following my last message to her, after she insisted on sponsoring a couple PWYC spots! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Her email was entitled "Paying It Forward," and said this:

Below, an email screenshot states this:

Hello Krystal,

I wanted to reach out and let you know how much your BIPOC only writing series through multiple renditions and forms has helped me unpack in my growth of unlearning and relearning. The sessions you facilitate are one of the only spaces where I don't feel shame or guilt for not showing up. The sessions you facilitate are one of the only spaces that allow me to lift some of the blockage to unpack layers around my own identity and recognize how exhausted I am navigating these systems. The sessions you facilitate are one of the only spaces where I feel safer to express some of my suppressed grief. I want to pay it forward with a small contribution of $100 to someone else and support cross-movement solidarity building during these challenging times. Thank you for continuously creating space and holding us all in these...

If you have thought about joining us for Sustainable BIPOC Resistance - Sunday Sessions, I will do my best to continue to offer these until the end of the year, while also working on better honouring my own access needs given how crucial that is for the sustainability of Disability Justice work since fat brown queer disabled immigrant women like myself are deemed disposable by society! 🫶🏽
