I know I repeat myself about how *disgusting* and toxic flood water is every time there’s a storm but inevitably videos circulate of people playing and swimming in it and we just absolutely have to counter any impression that flood water is safe.

It kills you and it kills you in ways that are heinously gross.

If the surge of water doesn't kill you, the bacteria in it certainly will.

Once or twice a year, a thunderstorm will overwhelm the storm sewers in my neighborhood. The intersections will fill up with water. Just the road residue that floats to the surface is f’ing disgusting. I can’t imagine a real flood…

I remember a video of a news reporter in New Orleans during Hurricane KAtrina, drinking the flood water to "prove" it was salt water, and everyone in the studio just being aghast. Especially the weather expert.

You’re a literal dead man walking if you’ve got any type of open wound on your body and you enter flood waters. And even if you don’t, you’re still incredibly likely to get extremely sick

I repeat myself about following *official* weather and emergency management organizations every time there’s a storm but inevitably social media is filled with one off model results and people yapping about Fujiwhara and we absolutely have to counter any impression that ignoring experts is safe.
