After last night's thunderstorms, mushrooms have popped up all over the park. #FungiFriends

A mushroom that looks a bit like pecan pie surrounded by brown grass
A mushroom that resembles a brain
A little white mushroom like an egg on a stick, popping up between thick green stems
A pair of white mushrooms with fringes like lampshades growing out of the mulch

Feeling some deep despair about the world today so here are some beautiful things I saw on recent walks.

A huge and very prim red dahlia, with little petals that are rolled up almost like little tubes.
Two pink flowers (I don’t know what kind!) with petals of irregular lengths that give them the flower equivalent of supermodel bedhead. They are deep pink tinged with yellow at their centers and the petals fade to palest pink at the tips.
Beautyberry. Thin chartreuse leaves on a runner, studded with clusters of vivid purple-magenta berries that are so glossy and perfectly round, they look like glass beads.

I will never understand why whoever left Zero at the Humane Society had named him Judas. He is the sweetest, most affectionate cat I've ever met. #cats

It is really scary. I wish we could just focus on phasing out fossil fuels instead of these contingency plans with all their potential unintended consequences.
