As I suggested in the piece it’s potentially a side effect of an iPhone release so dreary that it didn’t offer much for people to latch onto.
Not sure "dreary" is the word I'd use. There are many adjectives that could describe the iPhone 16 line, that's not one of them. I suspect a lot of his followers have never downloaded a wallpaper app before, don't know what they're like. The best ones do charge, such as:
