A Blades in the Dark TV show was announced! It was a few years ago but it sounds like it might still be being worked on?
I'd say it's from playing on Pie Day (March 14th), but the middle of August would be weird time to get it.
Go Nuts for Donuts is a great game, though you will want to eat donuts afterwards.
I'm just sad the PSP game never got released here.
Had a productive GenCon this year. I was only able to go for a day but it was great chatting with people I handn't seen in awhile and I spent a good part of the day just running between meetings. Unfortunately I wasn't able to check out many games but as it goes sometimes.
Been busy trying to get all my prototypes ready for GenCon. I'm not really planning on playtesting this year at least, just pitching, but the problem with digital playtesting is now I need to move everything over to the physical world.
I walked the .2 miles from my hotel to a Panera last night and was once again struck by our commitment to making life in America so wholly unpleasant to experience. No sidewalks; walking through multiple unconnected parking lots, outdoor seating that overlooks busy roads.
"American suburbs are full of ugly, empty, liminal spaces: spaces you are not meant to linger in or enjoy. They’re the creepy hallways of the built environment, and you can’t feel comfortable traversing them unless you’re zooming past them in a car." www.strongtowns.org/...
Walking alone to the grocery store is, for me, like walking through a creepy hallway at night. Why? Because America is filled with liminal spaces.
Got a chance to play Cascadero last week. It's similiar to Through the Desert, but with a much bigger decision space and some track juggling. I enjoyed it though I think I'd always choose Through the Desert over it if given the choice.
When a game with an idea I like has a bad core I'll keep trying to fix it, but I'm not getting at the core so I just keep having more problems that warrant more and more playtesting. (And generally the idea IS the core. I can never fix it, the smart thing is to toss it.) But good cores just work.
Publishers asking how many times you've playtested your game feels like such a red flag to me. All of my signed games (which are also my best) I probably playtested less than 5 times prior to signing. My worst games I've probably tested 30+ times. There's a reason for this. (1/2)
