19. The Slumber Party Massacre (1982) - cult classic notable for being written/directed by women. Originally intended to be a satire of the genre before the studio wanted a serious slasher against writer's wishes. Killer is just a guy w/ a big power drill. Lots of nudity & violence against women.

20. From Beyond (1986) - modern (for its time) imagining of a Lovecraft short story. Themes trying to control the unknown, harmful models of treating mental illness from carceral to professional aggrandizing. Good use of light & practical effects/body horror, even the early tech CG fits the vibe.
