Agreed. I swear I’ve seen papers that argue direct admit is less equitable but I don’t know if it was BioSci specific and how rigorous the methods were.
This needs to be tagged with the specific field and subfield as it is highly variable. It applies in BioSci only if applying to a rotation program (usually molecular and cell) but not direct admit where it is imperative you contact the PI (mainly ecology, evolution and organismal)
