Incisions are usually dressed with either skin glue or little strips of adhesives called steri strips or some gauze and clear film called tegaderms, or a combination of those. Most doctors should also be putting in some form of local anesthetic to help with immediate post op pain.

As far as anesthesia goes, you will be completely asleep for it. They will use some sort of breathing tube, most likely with what’s called an LMA or laryngeal mask airway. It sits just above the opening to your lungs. It may cause some discomfort afterwards, but most people tolerate them very well.
