I am all for rehabilitation and prison abolition but we have to acknowledge the truth that there are some people who *simply cannot* be rehabilitated

His behavior during imprisonment convinced the authorities that, like his political organization, known as the Valkischer, was no longer to be feared. It is belleved he will retire to private life and return to Austria, the country of his birth.

There are rare people so far gone, so thoroughly broken, that they *have* to be locked away for the good of society, because allowing them to walk free — no matter how much treatment they have received — poses an existential threat to the rest of us

I'd argue that all people /can/ be rehabilitated, but they must /want/ to be rehabilitated. Some people will choose to drag the world into hell rather than accept a single helping hand into the light
