Suits don't actually have any concept of what art is. They are disconnected from it and are incapable of experiencing art. They are their egos, and reality for them is egoic reality. There is no individual self to experience; their social mask has become who they are. That's why they are suits.

The Diablo III auction house wasn't shut down because it attacked and destroyed the artistic experience. It shut down because some line went down in some profitability graph, or someone in a meeting said that gamers complaining means the line will go down in the future.

Capitalists do not actually understand how these interactions play out. They just find out how to extract the most money from people in any way they can, without bothering too much whether it takes the artistic enjoyment aspect with it or not.

Sometimes these experiments fail spectacularly, such as in the infamous Diablo III Real Money Auction House: it turns out that you cannot have dollars inside MMOs. You can have them outside the game, on eBay, but not in the game.

Sometimes these experiments work: it turns out you can charge people infinite amounts of money for them to buy random progression objects in "Flash" games (nobody actually uses Flash anymore, but you get the idea -- it's those little games).

That is the case with language and the social process. And when this social sphere, this shared space of meaning is demonstrating that it is dead, being has the option to take charge and let it go.

There's no such thing as an Independent Thinker. Instead, we are thought, spun, captured in egos by the existing epistemologies. We think we command words, but it is them that command us.

Umair Haque's plight is that words have been for the most part colonized by capital. The people speaking them and being heard are extremely removed from what they mean. Capital uses words for an effect in people, not for what they mean towards empowering them.
