the hoverfly that cocooned on one of my plants came back! or... at least one of the same type lmao. i'd only ever noticed the bee-like hoverflies before. it's very pretty. i think i stopped looking for bugs when i moved back to the mainland from hawaii bc it felt so dead here. but there's so much.

it's funny bc like, rose colored glasses aside, waikiki's nature was largely geckos and cockroaches (and anoles, and jellyfish in the canal...) recently, i found out we get jellyfish at where the la river meets the ocean, and they're the same type! and sea turtles come up to eat them. idk
