To be clear: I don’t think Bluesky is or will stay a quirky little nerd paradise without ads. No one should trust any social media company not to be evil. But you *especially* shouldn’t trust a social media company run by Meta and Mark Zuckerberg not to be evil.

Usenet taught me that all good experiences eventually come to a crashing halt. At least at the moment this place is fun! I’ll take it while it lasts, but I know what will inevitably happen … ugh

They have to make money. I accept that. A happy medium just needs to be found; one on this side of the line of tracking everything I do

It feels like Twitter absolutely had massive problems, but got even worse 8 months ago, BlueSky absolutely has it's problems, and WILL get worse when they start to need making money, and Threads just started off worse and will probably get even worse.
