Once you've decided deregulation is the way forward, hard to set any parameters about where maybe it's still needed.

They did do something really dumb with the tests for ATC a while back in the name of diversity and equity, but that's not the goddamn problem here in the slightest, and the ATCs who came out of that round are still damn competent.

I don’t think this particular angle is about the “wokism” nonsense. At least it’s not what I’m hearing. Every time there’s a major disaster, there are hundreds of people sincerely trying to “help” in really dangerous ways, and coordination difficulties that lead to stories like these.

If you've ever become a pilot or even trained to be a pilot you would understand why this is completely insane and why these people are stupid. I swear to God people just don't understand the complexities of the world around us and why regulations are in place.

"We should have the freedom to kill ourselves" has been a weirdly consistent, and utterly insane statement the last few years.

It is easier to believe in conspiracy theories when you do not understand how things work (whether unintentional or willful ignorance)

The first rule of first aid is to make sure you don’t go from one rescue to two. An air disaster is exactly what no one in a disaster zone needs.

Saw this tweet that gives a better visual explanation than any words can explain it :

Tweet from Pete Muntean that says: SCOOP: An unprecedented number of airplanes, helicopters, and drones swooping in to help with Hurricane Helene recovery efforts are now posing a safety hazard.
There were 30 near-mid-air collisions last
Saturday, a federal source tells me.
Below tweet is an image of flight trackers that shows the skies full of flights, looks chaotic.
