the relative fire risk between EVs and ICE vehicles was given in the article, and favors EVs, and saltwater flooding is a severe test, but it seems to me that electrical shorts and fires (in batteries with flammable electrolytes and Li anodes) is largely a design problem.

This is a feature of ........... Teslas. Every other EV maker builds better vehicles.
