if it's not a car blocking the sidewalk it's the damn city putting utility poles in the way. this is EVERWHERE in america. it's no surprise cities don't care if folks block sidewalks. how are cities not sued for this? surely this violates ADA reqs? irritating
It does violate the ADA; cities do get sued over it. Unfortunately, it's usually the utility companies who place the poles, not the cities, and the cities don't tell them not to.

I see this more in the outer-ring areas in my town, and it's crappy. It feels like a big ol' shrug, "oh well, what can we do?" from the city's engineers.
that looks like new sidewalk so it's almost certainly in violation I actually succeeded in forcing our county DOT to re-do a segment of sidewalk when they tried this shit in my neighborhood. it's not allowed there's just no enforcement
