Original genesis was a news story mentioning that the V22 Osprey was expected to serve into the 2060s or something ridiculous like that. So I set myself to imagining what a complex aircraft like that would be doing in a climate-crisis future & drafted a story about the very last one in operation.
Oooh, I love that!
