Civilization moved from squared tiles to hexagons after Civ IV, so it would only be consequent to leave hexagons behind after Civ VI and try something new. Heptagons maybe? Or even octagons?

I'm struggling too to make out new information games, not only because the term is not widespread. You can't easily make out whether a game is an information game from just looking at it, but on the other side you don't want to look too much into it, because they are so sensitive to spoilering.
I am currently playing Her Story, Tom Francis also named Case Of The Golden Idol, Return Of The Obra Din and Heavens Vault. Twelve Minutes could also be one and maybe Chants Of Sennaar since it has a similar theme as Heavens Vault.
