Somehow the topic of learning to shave came up in the office. Most of the guys were taught by their dad. Mine buggered off when I was 15 and I had to admit that I learned from watching Lethal Weapon 3. I always wonder if anyone else learned the same way.
I learned from 2 sources: Homer Simpson showing Bart in that episode where he thinks he's dying and George Harrison showing the lad in Hard Days Night.
I just had a go, learned how to not cut myself. It’s working out ok these days. I even use a DE razor like my dad did now.
Nobody taught me how to shave. I just did it myself.
My dad has always had a beard so had to teach myself. Always felt hard done by.
I was handed an electric razor and told to get on with it.
My Lethal Weapon 3 memory has faded... But didn't they shave *against* the grain in that film?
Boarding school so trial and error. Then my father wondered why I was shaving against the grain. 'Doesn't that hurt?'.
I learned to tie a tie from The Twilight Zone. Shaving I figured out on my own (ouch!) and from the Simpsons (lol).
