struggling with how queasy all the AI art makes me feel, and the cure has been thinking about Rhoda Kellogg’s work on children’s scribbles. Thinking on the biological urge to make marks - without judgement or interpretation forcing a “grade” - frees me to love human-made art to its very core.

Learn to love: - paying artists whose work you admire, to make what they’re great at - the act of making your own art separate from judgement or value & you won’t need AI art. Society blossoms with human creation, and that requires frequent cultivation & investment. Artists are hurting right now 💔

AI art sneaks in when your heart is closed to folk art, to children’s art, to your own art. I know what it feels like to say “I couldn’t draw this, so it’s okay to have a computer do it” - but what part of yourself are you choosing to abandon because it’s not “good” enough?
