You can go to Saint-Malo as well, the city center and beach is beautiful. Try to go there when it’s low tide to be able to walk to the islands

Thank you for the recommendation, I was eyeing up that area too and I appreciate the thoughts on where to check out! Do you possibly know what the area is like for English speakers (thinking for ordering food/restaurants)? My french is sadly limited and I'm a bit worried!

I would also highly recommend the aquarium, it's fantastic! Unfortunately Saint-Malo is a little ways away from Caen so you might not have time for a visit.
