Its a really special experience to be close to such a majestic creature and for them to be comfortable in your presence.

Reindeer are quite common in Lapland and because of generations of management by Samii and ethnic Finn's they can be comfortable around people. I came across reindeer in national parks, city parks and ski slopes. During the mosquito season reindeer are commonly seen along roads and open spaces.

Research the Karhunkierros Trail, Finland. Id highly recommend it.

Its amazing and the infrastructure is great. Because you follow the Oulanka River the majority of the hiking is flat. There are amazing log cabins to sleep in to top it all off.
