Together with the pushback against climate protests and the physical reality of increasing CO2, Methane and energy imbalance, this in my view demonstrates quite clearly that climate politics the way it was done the last 30 years is dead. We will likely see this at COP28 as well. 1/2
Plans by nations including Saudi Arabia, the US and UAE would blow climate targets and ‘throw humanity’s future into question’
Since the process was disrupted at least in part intentionally, it's probably very difficult to get it back on track. It is, however, very difficult to see an alternative. Maybe some of the real improvements made, e.g. in renewals, may serve as a foundation for something new. 2/2
Humanity's path to addressing the climate crisis has hit a roadblock, but the seeds of change have been sown. The disruptions call for a new approach, one built on renewable foundations of unity and responsibility. The Earth waits for a collective awakening. 🌍💚
