As a Detroiter in spirit rather than residency, I don’t understand why someone speaking at the Detroit Economic Club would bad-mouth my hometown.

I recently visited my folks and took my daughter and a friend down into the city for the afternoon. I have been wanting the city to come back for most of my life. I’m more optimistic now than I ever have been, and I’m happy for the city. I keep my fingers crossed for the momentum.
