that album is awesome. "top of the pops" is a banger. the kinks are criminally underrated. they don't usually get mentioned in the company of the beatles or the stones, but their catalogue is not much less impressive. "village green preservation society" is an achievement.

i once read someone suggesting that the kinks would've been bigger, but one of the davies brothers (probably ray) caught some charges in the UK and couldn't get into the US to tour during their peak...
