On "gatekeeping" discourse: I've seen "exclusion is bad" used to justify not cutting links with people's dodgy friends way too much to not give the sideeye to people promoting that argument unconditionally.

Yeah, there are good and bad uses of gatekeeping. The good kind keeps out toxic elements. The wrong kind involves making people feel unwelcome or not able to participate...not being "real roleplayers", "One True Wayism", policing people because of their identity, etc,.
