We are excited about hosting you at the LSE next term, @dirckdekleer.bsky.social ! Looking forward to seeing you in London soon after the break. Happy holidays!
So great to get the chance to present in the D&E seminar and getting to see friends old and new in Manchester! What a great group of people doing political behaviour! Thanks for the super useful comments on our paper.
There are many memories to cherish and some fights, including over pensions, that we've won. But this is the end of the line for me.
I’ve been a member since 2011, first as a PhD student, and from 2017 onwards as a Lecturer. I’ve been on the picket line with colleagues whenever UCU called for it, no matter if I voted for or against industrial action, participated in the MAB, gone to demonstrations together.
I continue to believe that we need one (or probably more than one) functional university union(s) in British academia, and I will continue to stand alongside colleagues for a more inclusive and equitable sector. But I can no longer give my financial & positional backing to UCU.
It was the last straw in a series of motions, votes and actions I firmly disagree with, including Congress passing that horrendous STW motion on Ukraine and my branch failing to condemn it.
I’m sad that it has come to this, but I have resigned my membership of the University and College Union following an emergency branch meeting on the Israel-Palestine conflict today.
