Good question - no such plans have been trailed at all so far, but maybe the FPÖ haa done well at keeping these a secret. Kickl at least does not seem willing to step aside. But after the election things may change of course.
Yes, the ÖVP has happily formed coalition with the FPÖ in the past - but always as the larger partner. We will see whether they can stomach being the smaller partner of a right wing coalition!
Hard to know, but on paper he does have a lot of power. Can't be reelected so may be willing to play it tough!
FPÖ doesn't have a whole lot of moderate politicians waiting in the wings to be Chancellor, too... Seems hard to imagine right now but Austrian politics always surprises
I have a bad track record with predictions, but I would agree this seems likelier, ÖVP could keep Chancellor and be largest party in a coalition rather than being second fiddle to difficult FPÖ
I don't see why you're so confident on this. Most observers do not think ÖVP will agree to be a junior partner to FPÖ when they can be largest party in a coalition and keep Chancellor. Plus they can then show their right wing credentials in gov when arguing with SPÖ/Neos.
