I understand—I participated in a neopagan group for awhile, although it was a UU group so like the rest of UUism, specific beliefs were optional. Most of us didn't literally believe in the god(dess)es, it was just the nature aspect of the rituals that resonated with us.
The closest thing I came to believing in was reincarnation (I'm still near the fence, if not actually on it any more). I gave a few discussion workshops years ago called "A Rational Look at Reincarnation", exploring the scientific evidence of it (which is not inconsiderable).
I've probably mentioned I'm UU by now?
