In other J.D. news, singer/songwriter, J.D. Souther (Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, etc.) has passed away. He and I grew up in the same town (he was a few years older), but as far as I know, he did not have dinner with William Burroughs.

As I recall, Haiti was still paying France (under a treaty they agreed to, where France agreed not to "recolonize" them) well into the 20th century. One way to keep a free black population in poverty.

Shared with my Texas friends on FB (I am OLD). Moved to Texas in 3d grade (Amarillo) and stuck around until I had two undergrad degrees from UT. My dad and two sisters are still in Texas. Now retired, I live in Portugal.
