Of all the nerdy things I do, this may be the nerdiest. Also my fellow barbers are all children. When they talk about college music camp, that was like last week for them. Whereas if the last time I was singing from sheet music with folks went to college, it would have graduated 6 years ago.

Chicago Parks appears to have closed the public toilets at Belmont Harbor by the Aldine DLSD Underpass for the season because screw you for being alive and using the park.

I always like to use the CPL budget of $117 million in 2024 as a point of comparison. A half year of *just overtime* for CPD is more money than running the libraries for a whole year. There's just so much good we could do instead of continuing to throw money at this failed law enforcement model.

The order of operations is hard to get right, especially when the only budget going up is for cops and cop technology.

That's what it feels like in some Wisconsin towns, where fresh roads always seem to have pretend bike infrastructure: bike lane signs pointing to 1 foot 'lane' at the edge of road or bike lanes at redone intersections that disappear once you get into the road.

I got added to a starter pack so now a bunch of strangers are following me and it feels weird.

Plus bike 'paths' with cement sidewalks, or the path crossing streets at points where cars are not going to stop behind.

I was biking out in the northwest suburbs on a route that felt chosen based off of government maps of bike lanes and paths vs real world users of those paths, and the number of times the bike lane disappeared so a turn lane could be unobstructed was a lot.

One thing non-cyclists don't seem to understand about cyclists is that we're very annoyed and annoying because we're constantly in danger of being killed. A person being annoyed on the Internet because of losing 20ft of turn lane on one street only makes us stronger.
