They may have been using heavy equipment like jackhammers or those tamping machines and had on hearing protection, but they really should have had a protocol so at least one person was on alert for messages (unless somehow the bridge operators didn't know they were there?)

If you watch the footage, from the time the ship lost power (first issue of a Mayday) to impact was less than 3 minutes. So no, there was not time to find who to call to to warn them. Horrible all the way around.
