The other place is a mess and Threads is impenetrably tangly, but I forgot my password here. Anyway, here I am.

Seriously thinking about reading this poem when I go off on tour next week.

On ‘;..p’[[[[[[[[[[[[[;’;////////////////////////3,’

Upon returning to my desk,
having left it temporarily in search of biscuits,
I discovered my cat had written a poem
on my laptop.

It was called ‘;..p’[[[[[[[[[[[[[;’;////////////////////////3,’
and constituted one of her more difficult pieces,
but it was the kind of poem
which rewarded repeat reading.

I was struck by its experimental structure,
the absence of line breaks;
indeed, not one single space between any
of the poem’s 10,000 or so characters.

One of the work’s central motifs –
‘jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk’ –
was, by turns, reassuring and unsettling,
while the symbolism of ‘###################’,

hinted at our 21st century preoccupation with social media.
And who could not be moved by that devastating final line,
its message of hope piercing our hearts like an arrow:
‘`````````5555=======================’.

Normally 3 to 4 core plugs are taken per meter of core, but sometimes that just won’t do! This Carboniferous sandstone sample we received as part of a core donation was clearly of great importance and those sampling it were keen not to miss any key sections! #Geology#Subsurface

Outcrop of metasandstone in the 1.7 billion year old Yavapai Schist in central Arizona USA that has some intriguing relict sedimentary structures, including trough and hummocky cross-stratification and cobble-sized rip-up clasts. The huge hummocky crossbeds, with rip-ups, could be a tsunamite. 🧪⚒️
