alternatively a comfortable pair if in ear headphones and then ear muffs on top for the same effect as above.

my annual tip for new years eve (first time here though) for those who get stressed out or annoyed by fireworks. I learned this living way too close to a festival site. find a good pair of ear plugs, then put headphones on top of them and boost until movie/music volume is "normal".
