Has anyone noticed that 1980s nostalgia is all about toys, music, movies, and mass-produced consumer products sold by megacorporations (which are still on sale) and not about real human experiences. Do you know what I remember from then? The air smelled different. There were lots of flying insects.
I remember summers entirely outside (parent never let you enjoy the AC before dinner). That, and acid washed jeans my parents (thankfully) wouldn’t buy for us.
As a child, most people's experiences will gave sucked, as all children's do. Rember tgat which gave us ispiration and joy is much more interesting to remember than that visit to the Dentist, back when they were accessable.
There was still smog in the 80s and in some regions it was worse than it is today. Not really the kind of thing I'd expect to hear from you but yeah sure I'm glad you're okay. Also wow this algorithm actually showing me people I know IRL. I guess that's an improvement.

My memory of childhood in that era was being exclusively catered to, vis-a-vis, consumption/culture. You are right about the insects, though - and the animals food chains related to them : frogs, snakes, etc.
Yeah, never liked "the good old days", either way, we live in the now to prepare for the next day. So I prefer to be in the moment.
I grew up in Chicago... The air quality was worse. The water tasted worse. The pot holes were bigger. The adults all hated seeing children in public. Well I guess the last one never changed lol

I made a website once that tried to be different and actually discuss memories of things I experienced in the 80s and 90s, not being much of a writer I didn't get far running it myself. I wanted something out there that didn't read like a data sheet about facts and bullshit every youtuber picks up.
thats cause literally all the cartoons were funded by actual toy makers its why some were really good but its all to market toys
