Michelle Donelan, Science Minister, made false allegations against an academic, but her undisclosed legal costs and bill for damages have been paid by the taxpayer. I think the taxpayers have a right to know the sums involved, and why she isn’t footing the bill herself.

We live in a truly ridiculous and probably unsustainable political reality where we simultaneously must balance the books with difficult decisions, but for certain things there is a truly unlimited pool of money that cannot, must not, ever run out
