Yeah agree with this take - doom 2 rocks but I think 1 is the better sweet spot for map design. 2 has more clever and complex things so it's more impressive on that level but also easier to get frustrated and lost, Doom 1 felt just right

Yeah strictly speaking I recognize 2 as adding a lot (I love you super shotgun) but it just doesn't scratch the boomer shooter itch the way 1 does for me
