I had an idea for a wind-turbine based on a palm tree. It's similar in concept to the image below but the "trunk" should be more flexible and the components more lightweight. It should be designed in a way that tension in the supports keeps it upright. Breaking a threshold collapses the section.

It's about flexing in the wind like a palm tree. Palm trees don't break as much in hurricanes despite having shallow roots. Why? because they bend and shed their leaves in high wind. They minimize drag and remain flexible against another force. Naturally hurricane friendly.

There might be a way to incorporate hydroelectric generation by capturing rainwater too. Photovoltaic cells on some of the surfaces could also generate some power locally for the device itself. Bunch of solar-punk power daisies sprouting up sounds pretty cool and Florida as hell.
