There’s an option called “nightshade” that artist can now add to poison their art so if AI consumes it without consent, the AI generator will be infected and it will ruin the quality of the images generated.

I don't disagree. But it's hard to have sympathy as an *academic librarian* when young artists fairly regularly give me abusive lectures on how people should use Google to search for images rather than an AI gen that 'scrapes data and puts jobs at risk'. I mean...😅😉

I think this sort of illuminates an aspect of AI generative images that is often overlooked. The fact that not only it is derivative, but the pool it is capturing from is the size of a bucket compared to the human capacity to produce original work, which is more like the ocean.
