I do think bluesky could stand to program more into its UI to make it easier for everyone - like saved responses, and making GIF default responses actually show up if people don't want to type their own. But they could also make alt text prompting default so it requires deliberate bypassing.

My heart cannot handle how consistently the disability community loses our most powerful voices to situations that amount to "they simply couldn't come up with the money to keep living." This fucking country is a systemically ableist eugenics factory backed by the Healthcare system and the US govt.

Having a disability can be really impairing. But that doesn't excuse use from striving for a standard of accessibility. We of all people shouldn't be trying to cancel each other out.

Nah, i have severe ADHD so i turned on the "do not allow posting pics without alt text" feature. Does that make it more difficult to post pictures? Absolutely. Sometimes i dont post at all until i have the spoons. Because i want to be accessible to my disabled siblings. Use alt text
