#14 Intruder (1989) - Folks who love store like @jessefarrar.com might enjoy this gory slasher set entirely in a grocery store. Great screen time for the 1989 cereal aisle. Sam Raimi gets a meat hook in the mouth, somebody gets their head sawed in half. Bruce Campbell shows up for 30 seconds.

Not pictured but repeatedly seen in this movie is a defunct cereal called "Crazy Cow" that I am now obsessed with.
Yes, you're damn right Sam Raimi gets thrown into that Diet Pepsi display about 3 seconds after this shot.
A bit slow to get to the slashing for a slasher, but some pretty gnarly gore in this.
The killer spends huge amounts of time pranking the surviving characters with body parts.

#13 Let's Scare Jessica to Death (1971) - Jessica gets out of an asylum and her husband does the logical thing: moves her to a spooky house in the middle of nowhere with a creepy squatter girl, ghosts, maybe vampires, and lots of mean old men. Very 1970s, overbearing but cool droning music.

Jessica approaching scared level: death.
A very calming place to go if you are coming back from psychological trauma. Basically a spa.
Four early 1970s weirdos sitting around a table playing a lute and eating raw meat as one does.
A woman using a knife to slice something (just offscreen but presumably food).

#12 Dawn of an Evil Millennium (1988)(Short) - A 20-minute trailer for a fake 18 hour long movie. Damon Packard's debut is an uncovered blender mess of film jokes, gore, screaming, and video distortions. There's a puking demon, a cop, and Alpha Centauri. This is fun but I loved Reflections of Evil.

The "demon" (packard himself) spends most of his time on screen puking all over his own face. Puking is a recurring theme in Packard's films.
Some other guys do some things in the movie. Jumping around, getting punched, yelling and twitching, etc.
BAH GAWD!!! That's Damon Packard's entrance music playing!!

#11 Dr. Caligari (1989) - Extremely loose remake of the 1920 Dr. Caligari from the director of Cafe Flesh is a nightmare Pee-wee's Playhouse. Erotic weirdness, cannibalism, body horror, and gender dysphoria. Intentionally bizarre delivery and insane dialogue. Love it or hate it. I kinda loved it.

Later her arm turns into a giant penis and she jams it in her husband's butt.
Is this vaporwave?????
A constant stream of scenes and characters like this keeps this from ever being dull.
That's the original Dr. Caligari's brain which she is going to suck up into a syringe and inject into her forehead.

#10 The Devil-Doll (1936) - Truly bonkers Mrs. Doubtfire horror movie where a scientist shrinks animals (and people) into living dolls that can be controlled with his mind. Then a male criminal, dressed as an old lady, takes over and uses this for revenge. Lots of great "tiny people" FX. Wild.

Rafaela Ottiano as the scientist's (and then the criminal's) sidekick is so damn good in this.
Look at this! She is pulling faces like this throughout the whole movie.
Lionel Barrymore, the star of the movie, spends more than half his screen time dressed as an old lady.
Truly great FX for a 1936 film. Love the giant furniture stuff at another point.

#9 The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue (1974) - Fun early British zombie movie with the dead resurrected by ultrasound. The zombies are Romero slow but intelligent, using tools and weapons. Truly random nudity in the first five and buckets of gore. Synapse release on Shudder and looks fantastic.

A guy who looks a little sick is really enjoying some meat.
The zombies in this make up rules as they go along, with one zombie able to touch dead bodies and bring them back, but also spread infection, and then later dead people just coming back to life on their own.
Surprising amount of zombie strangulation in this one.
A 1970s zombie movie? Definitely gonna be a happy ending for the two main characters!

#4 And Soon the Darkness (1970) - Sunny horror as two British lasses in shorts ride their bicycles through an ominous rural town in France. They fight and separate, one girl vanishes, and the other must deal with a collection of untrustworthy Frenchies to find her friend. Effectively creepy.

Two young ladies in shorts lounging in the sun with nothing bad about to happen.
A woman looking at a car that presumably is being driven by a rude Frenchman.
A hand about to do the Iron Claw move on a lady's face.
John Ford eat your heart out. Looking out a door over a shoulder at some French hillbilly on a bike and a French cop.
