I've made an account using that, so it worked at some point? Not sure if it still works, maybe they changed the validation rules.
If you're using gmail (and probably other providers too) you can just add a + to your email address to make a "new" one that goes to your inbox. So user+hello@gmail.com goes to user@gmail.com, and that's unique for creating accounts. Pretty useful!
