i teach high school. we offer financial literacy, and i have taught it (and yes, taught about checks) but up until THIS YEAR, it was not a required class. also about half the textbooks/online curriculum resources i have seen ignore checks as they are so rarely used by upcoming generations.

My kid's high school offers a financial literacy class. It's not required, though. Thankfully, Kiddo has decided all on his own that it seems like a good idea to take it.

They aren't really used at all outside the US - I got a check refund from an American and I literally *could not* cash it because Australian banks won't take international ones anymore. It's strange for such a wealthy country to be 20yrs behind in finance.
