It could be my fault too. This brilliant exchange with my kid happened not long after she got her first phone, somewhere in the 2010s.

My kid: Apparently, if you send this to 10 people in the next ten minutes, you will either get asked out or kissed, if you break this chain you will see a dead girl in your room tonight and thats on god in the next 53 minutes someone will say I love you now!!!!!NO SEND BACKS! starts Me: Ick, Sophia it's bad manners to send out annoying chain texts like this. My kid: Sorry I don't want a ghost in my bedroom
