Living in herds could have been a useful tactic for Stegosaurus, despite its size and tail spikes (known as a 'thagomizer'). The Morrison Formation was home to many dangerous predators like Ceratosaurus, Saurophaganax, and Stegosaurus' well-known "rival", Allosaurus. 4/5
The most iconic feature of Stegosaurus is its plates. While their exact purpose is debated, the most plausible theory is display, either for intimidation or social interaction. Thermoregulation was once popular theory, but studies from the 2000s cast doubt on this idea. 5/5
