I thought I'd stumbled into breastfeeding Bluesky until I saw the kittens, so it's not as weird as it could be 😅 I suspect it's a hazard for any mammal with more than one nursing child...
"Don't fuck with the bats" has joined "magpies swoop get used to it" in the local wildlife warning rotation down here. There's a special section in any induction paperwork for Botanic Park events in summer that's just "NO GO NEAR BATS" and yet. And *yet*. *flails*
This. This this this. Don't fuck with bats and ALWAYS get checked out if you end up getting fucked with.
Every time I think that getting a flying insect stuck so far in my ear that it scratched up my eardrum and the water gun thing nearly couldn't get it out was the Worst Thing Ever, I will remember this story and never visit Malaysia. I still can't sleep without earplugs.
It's extra hilarious when I think of the mountain ranges that could be built out of all the paranormal romance/urban fantasy that was being published a decade ago. A substantial amount was soft-core porn with just a touch more plot than your average 80s porn film. ESPECIALLY the shifter stuff.
I grew up on the rural Australian equivalent of British food. I cannot imagine the horrors that must have been brought into unconscionable being in that episode.
That server is dedicated to a specific piece of software, rather than an online creator's fanbase, so it's miles ahead in terms of ease of moderation. It's mostly pointing people to the correct channel for help/discussion + banning spam/trolls. Even small creator servers have it so much worse.
The best moderated server I'm currently in has gone from ~10k to ~140k users in 3 years. They just decided to shut down the off-topic channel because of the moderating overhead. Considering how well moderated it was from a user perspective, that's a scary amount of backend work that we never saw.
I love this analogy, mostly because I'm bugnuts enough to be doing it. And sewing your entire wardrobe it *realms* easier than running a server/moderating a damn thing.
