My theory is that their fans are those people who lack interior monologues. Their shows are just thousand of non-persons, brains humming like fridges.
Coldplay was the halftime act at the Super Bowl a few years ago. I was watching with my dad, and after a few minutes he turned to me and said, "It's insipid, isn't it?"
