Then there are the 'concerns' which underlie this potential smartphone ban/restriction. In order: "the prevalence of harmful content online" - Fair enough. But this is an issue that really should include the suppliers of such content. This is rarely the case. Also, 'harmful' is a loaded term /8

SFC said there was a litany of concerns about smartphones behind its campaign: the prevalence of harmful content online; the addictive nature of social media; distraction from schoolwork; and the links between excessive smartphone use and mental illness.

What online content is 'harmful' to kids? Most would say sexual or violent material. Maybe dangerous misinformation. Or unrealistic body images etc. But there are plenty of 'concerned parents' who 100% consider anything to do with LGBTQ+, or sex ed, 'harmful'. And that's... bad. /9
