I believe it! What a lot of people don't fully get is many professors* at R1 institutions are there to do cutting edge research. Not to teach. So good luck if you're being taught by someone with little training/interest in teaching. *Not all, teaching professor is a thing

That's why R1 Profs only teach 1 class a year! Or only a few seminar sessions! Or not at all! Ask me how I know this! Institute name/reputation does not equate to a superior education.
