Voters who think that you can achieve the government you want with a single vote every four years are like parents who think you can produce a well-adjusted person so long as you show up for birthdays and graduations. At some point you have to recognize neither one is gonna raise itself.

This is the perfect explanation of the phenomena as to why using a single tool in our toolbox isn't enough. Phone calls, emails, texts, contacting our representatives is as important as voting them into office. We can't vote them in and then leave them in the dark about our wants and needs.
