Had a very contentious conversation last night with a NYT reporter and reminded of my favorite Steinbeck
I need to go back and reread that one.
The monster is the will to power, isn’t it? In whatever way power can be gotten — money (the bank), force (fascism), any kind of strength over others, reinforced in its rightness when other people participate.

Sorry to conitue, as if the bank, or any social enterprise causing these problems were a chimera, made of everyone's little bits and pieces, until it's a fully formed beast devouring what it can. Literally describes the entirety of the issue.
The reality is, everyone sees everyone else's bullshit, yet they never see their own. That's how the monster eats and breathes. Each person willingly saying "it's not me, I'm not the problem, I see the problem and that's not what I do" but everyone contributes their own little piece.
Chase definitely stole my ex-husband‘s soul. With his enthusiastic participation, of course. Dangle a title in front of the right person….
I’m sorry, but that is bullshit. For example, Look at the Australian royal commission into banking. Steinbeck was quite wrong about this … as he was quite often wrong in “Of Mice and Men”. I imagine that you will disagree. 🥂
I've long said that the American medical system is evolved to let people die without it being anyone's fault.
I think they could control it if they believed that was possible. But it's a lot easier not to.
This has been my experience dealing with Wells Fargo employees. They always tried their damnedest to figure out how to squeak around the corporate maze walls to help me. Kudos to them, but I sure don't miss being a WF customer/food source.
